1. Is there any physical contact/sparring in the classes?
No.
2. Do I have to know how to box?
No. The Level I class will teach the basic fundamentals of boxing from the beginning.
3. Is this class like “boxaerobics”?
Well, to put it bluntly…NO!. This class is an authentic and complete boxing workout, except without the physical contact.
4. I am old/out of shape….I couldn’t ever do a boxing workout!! Do I have a good fitness level to participate?
No. The workouts are designed to challenge the best of athletes, but are still fun, attainable, and appropriate for those of all fitness levels. Effort plays a large role in determining the workout’s intensity.
5. I have an old knee/shoulder/hip that has been hurt before. What if I can’t do all the exercises?
Jeremy has a degree in Kinesiology & Applied Health, and went through the athletic therapy stream. He has a wealth of knowledge regarding prescribing alternative, safe, effective exercises for those with joint ailments or physical limitations.
6. Do you offer small class/1-on-1 boxing instruction?
I do offer small class instruction for those who prefer not to work out with a larger group. If you are looking for 1-on-1 boxing instruction, please contact me.**Boxing classes are typically held in a small group atmosphere. There is a 10 participant maximum to the classes.**
7. What kind of exercises/activities can I expect to do in a class?
Skipping, shadowboxing, heavy-bag, speed-bag, and double-end bag exercises as well as other boxing specific drills make up the core of the class. Other exercises focus on improving the core and total body strength. Agility, power, and overall conditioning are also covered.
8. What equipment do I need to participate?
Boxing handwraps, and general workout gear (Be prepared to sweat!). Non-marking and indoor shoes only please! You can purchase high-quality Ringside and Green Hill handwraps from me for $12.
9. Is there a student discount?
Yes. We offer 10% off classes to all post-secondary students!
10. Is the facility accessible by transit?

11. What age are the class participants?
This class is intended for mature individuals of most ages! This workout can cross generations with participants from 18 to over 60 years!
12. I want to become a competitive amateur boxer. Is this the place for me?
Yes and No. Yes this is a great place for you to learn the fundamentals of boxing from an experienced amateur boxer! It is also the right place for any competitive boxer who is looking for an intense boxing workout without the sparring/physical contact aspect.
If you’re looking for a club to compete for, or a full-contact boxing gym, this is not the place for you. Please feel free to contact me and I will get you in touch with the right people.
13. Is there a Level III class?
Not yet. If you are interested in participating in a 4-week introductory Level III class (2 hours), please leave me a comment on the Contact Us page.
14. Do you offer kickboxing classes?
Not yet. I do not personally have the expertise to teach a quality kickboxing class. If there are enough interested parties, I will find a quality instructor to teach the class. If you are interested, please leave me a comment on the Contact Us page.
15. Do you teach a 1-time class for corporate groups or wellness & fitness days?
Yes I do. Please get in contact with me if you have any inquiries about this.
16. Can I just pay as I go and drop in to classes?
Not really. You can however purchase a featherweight (3), middleweight (5) or heavyweight (UNL) package. These packages are ideal for those with a busy schedule who cannot consistently attend one particular class. With these packages, you can pre-arrange with Jeremy which classes you would like to attend. Please take note of the different packages fees on the Specials page.
17. Can I make-up a class if I miss one?
Yes. If you have to miss a class, please email me to let me know ahead of time, as numbers play a role in my class planning. If you do this, we will do our best to arrange for an appropriate make-up class. If you do not let me know ahead of time, I may not be able to schedule you into another class.
18. Do you offer BOOTCAMP style training?
Yes. Jeremy is running morning Bootcamp-style classes in the Spring 2009 - tentative start date March 30. If you are interested in a bootcamp class, please Contact Us to reserve a spot now. They fill up fast!!
